Peter Lell is a music researcher specializing in ethnomusicology and currently works as a research fellow at the MMRC. Peter studied musicology and philosophy at the University of Kiel, the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, and the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar. He completed his Master's thesis at the University of Leeds (UK), where he explored world music festivals as spaces for musical education. Peter has published his research in several articles and book chapters and has edited a volume on the musical culture of Thuringia. He is currently also working on his doctoral dissertation in the structured doctoral program „Music Matters“ at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), focusing on the traditional music of Afghanistan, with a particular emphasis on the Instrument Afghan rubab.
