Chae-Lin Kim is a cellist and ethnomusicologist. She is currently a research fellow at the Music and Minorities Research Center, University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where she is leading a FWF-funded research project entitled “Music for the Eye? An Ethnographic Study of Sign Choirs in German-speaking Countries”. She holds a diploma in cello performance from Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. After receiving her MA in musicology from Freie Universität Berlin, she completed her PhD in musicology at Berlin University of the Arts. Her research interests include music in Deaf culture, sign choirs, and sign language literature.

Chae-Lin Kim received an AMMR seed money grant from MMRC to develop the research project “Music for the eye? Musical performances in Deaf culture”.
