Bios:
Emran Mahmood is an MA student at the Department of Folk Music and Ethnomusicology at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw). He obtained his BA from the Music Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Kabul University and is active as a singer and harmonium player in Afghan classical music. His academic work engages with the educational trajectories of music students following the 2021 music ban.
Mirwais Hakimi is a musician and researcher specialized in Afghan music. As a singer and Harmonium player, his artistic field is Afghan/Hindustani classical music. Mirwais Hakimi graduated the Bachelor program at the Music Department of the Fine Arts Faculty at Kabul University. Since 2024, he is an MA student in Ethnomusicology at the Department of Folk Music Research and Ethnomusicology at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
Masih Karimi comes from Afghanistan and has been living in Austria since 2023. He is musically versatile, playing and learning the Afghan lute rubab (with Ustad Daud Khan Sadozai) and the tabla drums (with Ustad Haider Khan), which is widespread in India and Afghanistan.
