Worauf wir aufbauen: Ethnomusikologische Minderheitenforschung

 

Die Minderheitenforschung hat eine lange Geschichte in der Ethnomusikologie, wenn sie auch nicht immer als solche bezeichnet wurde. Sie umfasst Forschung zu Native Americans ebenso wie nationale Ansätze in Europa Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts. Die Entwicklung von Urban Ethnomusicology in den 1970er Jahren war ein ebenso wichtiger Beitrag zur Minderheitenforschung wie Forschungen zu Migrationsbewegungen. Seit 1997 werden die Diskurse zu diesem Thema stark von der ICTM Study Group on Music and Minorities beeinflusst. Alle zwei Jahre organisiert die Study Group ein Symposium an wechselnden Orten. Ausgewählte Beiträge daraus resultieren jeweils in Publikationen.
